Tigersnake
Notechis scutatus
Description:
Highly variable in colour ranging from light grey through, olive, brown to blackish brown. Usually with a series of narrow alternating light and dark bands but sometimes without.
Habits:
Found in a wide range of habitats but usually near water or wet areas wuch as swamps or wetlands. Favouring cooler weather in the range of mid to high 20's. Diurnal but sometimes nocturnal in hot weather. Have been known to climb in search of food. Flattens head in a cobra like posture when threatened. Tigersnakes give birth to live young

Frogs, lizards, birds and mammals. They have even been known to eat decomposing animals.
