Eastern Brown Snake
Pseudonaja textilis
Description:
Variable in colour. Adults are usually uniform in colour varing from light tan to dark brown. Juvenile patterns may vary but generally have a black head (except for the snout) with a black band behind the head. The rest of the body usually being a light brown.

Swift moving, alert, nervous, quick to retaliate if provoked rearing head and forebody into an 'S'. Prefers open dry habitats but may still be found in wetter areas or around water. More commonly seen in warmer weather.
