Carpet Python
Morelia spilota
Description:
Extremey varied, ranging from pale to dark brown or grey with blackish blotches or varigations
Habits:Carpet snakes although once common to victoria only survive in local populations around rocky outcrops, rivers and lakes. Carpet pythons do not occur naturally aound the north and west regions of Melbourne but they do turn up from time to time. Usually as escaped pets. Mostly nocturnal and crepuscular (Dusk and dawn)
